First Day of Riding the School Bus (and other funnies) 08/26/09

This morning was Tye's first day of riding the school bus. He is too little to ride a school bus! lol When the bus got there the bus driver asked if he was in kindergarten and told him where to sit. They make the kindergarteners sit at the front of the bus so the bus driver can make sure they get off the bus (I guess a kid fell asleep one time and either didn't get off at home or didn't get off at school! lol)

Unfortunately because I had to work I didn't get to partake of this experience for his first time. :-( But Kevin did good and took pictures like I told him too. Here they are walking to the bus stop.

I think it was hard on Kevin. When I talked to him later he told me he hoped Tye got to school and made it to class okay. I could tell he was really worried about it. It was kindof sweet and endearing. :-) Kevin earlier had told Tye about when he was very young and got lost his first day of school and luckily his cousins came and found him and helped him. Oh great, thanks for telling our son that! lol

Anyway, when Tye got off the bus he told Kevin, "Daddy I want to be a bus driver!" Kevin said, "oh yeah, how come?" And Tye tells him, "because you get to turn the big wheel, and go over railroad tracks, and tell people to be quiet!" ROFL!!!

Kevin also asked him about if he ate breakfast and Tye told him yes. Well when they got home there was a note in his planner that Tye had gone into the cafeteria like we had told him to and promptly went over and started eating his lunch! I guess a teacher caught him and told him to stop. So he only had 1/2 a lunch for breakfast and 1/2 a lunch for lunch. Poor guy!!! lol I felt so bad, because I SHOULD have went in yesterday and showed him exactly what to do. Oh well, too late now. So we had to explain to him that he had to go in the cafeteria, get a tray, go to the lunch ladies, they would fill his tray and they he would go eat. We went over it several times, hopefully it sunk in! lol

Oh geez only my kid! He certainly finds a way to make everything funny or at least more interesting! hehehe

Tye's First Day of Kindergarten 08/25/09

My little boy is officially in school. He went to kindergarten today!

Here he is in the outfit that he picked out to wear for the first day of school.

Here is his cool new Lightning McQueen backpack! (He also has a cool Lightning McQueen lunchbox that we got last year but then didn't use)

Kevin and I took him to school this morning. When we got to his classroom he tried to hide behind us. His teacher asked if he was shy and I told her "no, he only pretends to be. If you would have seen him at the store he would have said hi to you, but because he is supposed to know you he will pretend to be shy." lol She laughed.

Here he is at his desk. He wasn't happy I wanted to take a picture and told me I could only take one. At least the one he let me take was a good one.
I did super good and didn't cry until we got to the car and read the letter both the PTA and his teacher gave us. It was basically the same letter just given by two separate people! lol It basically said, "hold this cotton ball until you can hold your child's hand again, go home and wipe away the tears and have a cup of hot tea knowing we will take care of your child because we have their best interest at heart." Of course it made me start to tear up, but I didn't actually cry!! lol I said, "dumb stupid letters!" lol and put the letters on the dashboard. And then pulled myself together again! lol

He loves school! I think it is going to be a really good year for him. A little different than what he is used to (no snack or nap!) but he will do great!

Scripture Reading Funnies

Before bed each night we read the scriptures and then say a prayer. Well I usually do the reading just because I like to stay focused and I think I can make it a wee bit more interesting for Tye than DH can! lol

Anyway, the other night when I opened up the scriptures, Tye promptly begins to say "And it came to pass...." ROFL!!!! Yep he is listening! lol And sure enough that actually was the first phrase of the first verse I read that night! lol

August Goals

So I need to get my goals going again:

1. Exercise 5x a week
2. Strength Train 3x a week
3. Get rid of all the magazines after going through them (I have a collection again that I need to get caught up on! lol)
4. Post everything on my blog for my month long vacation! (Yeah I won't be caught up to current I don't think, but I want to at least by through all of my vacation! lol)
5. Scrapbooking goals

• Complete 40 pages this month
• Complete the July month in review pages
• Complete the July calendar page

Ummm, I am not really sure what else I need to do this month. But I am sure there are other things, just probably not quite as important, or at least important enough to post here as a month long goal! lol
