Tye's First Day of Kindergarten 08/25/09

My little boy is officially in school. He went to kindergarten today!

Here he is in the outfit that he picked out to wear for the first day of school.

Here is his cool new Lightning McQueen backpack! (He also has a cool Lightning McQueen lunchbox that we got last year but then didn't use)

Kevin and I took him to school this morning. When we got to his classroom he tried to hide behind us. His teacher asked if he was shy and I told her "no, he only pretends to be. If you would have seen him at the store he would have said hi to you, but because he is supposed to know you he will pretend to be shy." lol She laughed.

Here he is at his desk. He wasn't happy I wanted to take a picture and told me I could only take one. At least the one he let me take was a good one.
I did super good and didn't cry until we got to the car and read the letter both the PTA and his teacher gave us. It was basically the same letter just given by two separate people! lol It basically said, "hold this cotton ball until you can hold your child's hand again, go home and wipe away the tears and have a cup of hot tea knowing we will take care of your child because we have their best interest at heart." Of course it made me start to tear up, but I didn't actually cry!! lol I said, "dumb stupid letters!" lol and put the letters on the dashboard. And then pulled myself together again! lol

He loves school! I think it is going to be a really good year for him. A little different than what he is used to (no snack or nap!) but he will do great!
