More Visitors 022809

Kevin's Uncle Dick and Aunt Sue were in town visiting his parents for a couple of days and wanted to see us. So after the party we raced to Oma and Opa's house for dinner and visiting.

Tye was quite shy as usual at first. He didn't even want to open the gift they had gotten for him in the living room! He took it into the hall and opened it! lol I was able to sneak a few photos! lol
Oma was telling him why kinds of cars they were.
Oh yeah, play time! lol

Aunt Sue and Uncle Dick

It was great to see them again. It has been a couple of years and they had never actually met Tye until today. We had a good visit and got to get caught up on things. It will be good to see them again in June when we go up to Pittsburgh.

My Blue Eyed Boy 022609

At Tye's school they were doing the McGruff Crime Dog Safe kids ID System. They had told the kids that McGruff was going to be there that day and they were so excited. We came in and THIS is what we got!!! Boy was Tye mad!!! (Come to find out the REAL McGruff Crime Dog WAS there earlier in the day, but not during the time our kids are there for VPK.) Anyway, he was mad at first and didn't want to get his picture taken with the cutout because he wanted it with the real one. When I told him that was all there was he finally agreed to let me take this picture.

They did the whole ID thing and even did finger prints and everything. Anyway, this is the picture that ended up on his card (sorry the quality is crap, I swear my scanner stinks! I guess I need a new one, but that won't happen any time soon! lol) Anything in particular stand out????? LOL I cannot believe how BLUE his eyes are in this picture. It was the first thing I noticed! WOW He needs to be an eye model! lol Beautiful (but maybe I am just bias! lol)

Kids are too funny!

Last night while we were watching Biggest Loser my parents called (don't they know BL is on and I shouldn't be bothered?? lol just kidding!). Anyway, they were talking to Tye and asked him what he was doing. He told them he was watching TV. When they asked what he was watching he said, "Bob's Losers". ROFL! My parents didn't catch what he said and Kevin and I were laughing too hard to tell them. Finally I got it out and they still didn't really understand. So I told them we were actually watching Biggest Loser, but Tye knows Bob because of my BL exercise DVD. It was too funny.

I am not sure if I have already told the other Bob story or not on here, so if I have forgive me. If not, here it is! lol One day I was working out to the Biggest Loser 1 exercise DVD. It was at the cool down part and there was lots of stretching. Anyway, Tye came in and saw that I had it on, but it was showing one of the other contestants at that moment. So he said, "where's Bob?" At that moment it switched back to Bob and he said, "oh there, there's Bob!" Like he had found a long lost buddy!! lol I feel proud that my DS knows my workout buddies! A little over a year ago that would NOT have been the case, but I am sure glad it is now!

A Day at the Park 021609

We decided to have a grand day at the park and take Tye's T-ball set so he could finally use it. I made sandwiches. Anyone recognize the red mini picnic basket on the table???? My sisters??? lol Yep, it is the tupperware set from when I was a kid. I let Tye use it when we go on picnics, one of the lids are breaking so I am going to have to go find a rep and see if I can get a replacement for it.

Anyway, sorry, got off topic. Here is our yummy lunch!
Now time to place baseball!! This is a set where the little red basket goes up and the balls velcro to the end of the arm there. It makes it more realistic like it is coming in the air at the kids (or so they say). Problem is the ball and velcro are too sticky so sometimes they don't come off!!! lol
Looks like those professional baseball pictures doesn't it?! lol
I had a go at it!
Nice throw!!!
Look at that form!
Daddy's turn now!!!
Okay, time to play at the playground at the park.
Lovin' the swing! Higher Daddy!!!!

Valentines' Breakfast 021509

Since Valentines' Day was on Saturday and I work Saturday morning we did not get to have our heart shaped pancake breakfast. So Sunday morning I got up and got the pancakes made. We had boysenberry syrup to go on top and strawberry milk. :-) Sorry to keep making everyone hungry seems like all my posts lately have revolved around food! lol

Here is our lovely layout.
Tye thought the heart-shaped pancakes were pretty cool and he also spied something else on the table.
Yep...a Mater and Lightening McQueen "tool box" lunch box. It was pretty cool and he LOVED it of course!
This pic is not in focus, but it still shows his CUTE smile and how happy he was to get this!
Here is another not so great photo...lol....I guess it was too early and my brain was not in gear to put the camera ON something so it would take a picture that was level to us and not the table. But oh well, we still look super cute I must say! lol

Valentines' Day Cookies 021409

On Valentines' Day we made our usual cookies! I love making cookies for each holiday as that is what my mom did with me growing up. It is lots of fun so that is a tradition we carry on. However, I do try to keep it semi under control so we aren't making 5 dozen cookies or anything and then what, we have to eat them all?! No, usually about 2 dozen I would say and Tye eats most of them! lol

He LOVES helping bake and make cookies and muffins and whatever else I am cooking. So we had fun.

This is so much fun Mommy!!
I'm dirty!! YAY!!! lol

I am not sure if you can tell but he has a pretty cute look on his face, not to mention the flour all over it!!! lol
More dirty hands and face!
"I can do it myself"!!

Then I took out the frosting and after I scooped it Kevin said he wanted a spoonful to eat I told him to go get a spoon. He turned around with this GIANT spoon! I told him NO WAY! I made him put it back and get a small teaspoon! lol
Tye loved having his bite of frosting! lol
Coloring the frosting.
Mixing the frosting....is it red enough?!
Look at us frosting the cookies!
Daddy's turn to help--Pink was Daddy's color, Red was Mommy's
OH YEAH Taste Test Time!!! They are gooooooooood!!!!
Here they are--see only about 2 dozen (I am sure we only had eaten 1 each so definitely under the 2 dozen cookies mark). Good thing because even as it was I was glad when they were gone, no more temptation! lol
Fun times! Glad we can do things together as a family!

Valentines' Day Dinner 021409

I always try to make an especially yummy dinner for our Valentines' Day dinner. This year I decided to make a recipe that we have had before that I found on Sparkpeople called Orange Pork Chops. (Click on the name and you can get the recipe for yourself). We had forgotten how delicious this recipe is! It is to die for and soooooooooooo simple! With the pork chops we had a baked potato and some green beans. It was a great meal!
For dessert we had strawberry shortcake (yeah it is already strawberry season here in Florida...we are the winter strawberry capital of the world...well Plant City is which is about 15 mins from our house).
LOL caught in the act! lol

Update on Tye's Speech

So we have been going to speech therapy pretty much every week for the last almost 6 months. Well today he had to be re-evaluated to see how he was doing. He was such a good boy and did everything the tester lady asked him to.

She said he is WAAAAYYYY better. He went from a score of 80 to 101 (normal is 85-115) and from a 12% percentile rank to 46% and went from an age equivalent of 2 years 7 months to 4 years 5 months!

She said that she recommends that we discontinue speech therapy at this time but that he continues on with Pre-K! She said that if down the road I felt there was a problem again I could just bring him in and they would re-evaluate him. I am so proud of him. He really has done so much better in his speech and she gave me a few pointers as to things to continue to work with him on. And that all happened in just 6 months of him going to school and taking speech therapy! I am so proud of him!!!

Great job Tye Tye!!!!

Family Get Together 020809

Every year for the last several years Kevin's Grandmother has come down from Pittsburgh for about 3 weeks to visit. During her stay we try to get together with the extended family for lunch and visiting. Usually we go to a restaurant, but this year Kevin's Mom decided to do it at their house so we could visit for longer and more intimately as opposed to yelling across a table at a restaurant or feeling like we are being pushed out the door and then stand outside the restaurant talking for another hour! lol

This is Opa and John (or Bub as everyone calls him in the family) having a nice discussion in the backyard. No they are not arguing even though it might look like Opa is saying "What the heck are you doing?" lol
Here are Joanne and Rosa talking with Grandma in the living room.
Grandma visiting with everyone.
Dave, John and Oma enjoying the sweets after the meal (we had delicious sandwiches and potato salad for lunch).
Angelie and Kimberly enjoying their sweets as well.
Angelie is showing off her talent of touching her nose with her tongue!! Too funny!!!
