New Healthy Lifestyle

Okay, so I am a little behind in posting on here, so I guess I better get caught up. In October, Kevin had a major scare. He was taking Tye to the babysitter's house and started getting a really bad stomach ache and then eventually chest pains. They ended up calling the ambulance and he went to the ER. They thought he was having a heartattack. After several tests, including stress test and cardio cath, and a two night stay they found out it was not a heartattack and really had no idea what it was. However, they did tell him he needed to lose weight.

So we started working on things a little bit. The middle of November I found a website called SparkPeople. It helps you track your food, water and exercise. It also gives you "team" or communities with people of similar interests to talk to and help each other. It was free so I joined right away! I began tracking things but with the holidays it was hard. So right after Christmas I told my aunt about it and we ended up joining a group that was trying to lose 10 pounds in the month of January. I figured what the heck, I need to lose way more than that and it would be a great jump start. So she joined with me and we have been doing it ever since. January 1st we got serious and have been doing great. Kevin also joined the site, but mostly so I could track his food for him and make sure he was getting the calories he needed each day.

Now I am on the site regularly checking things and tracking things and posting things. It is great! There is even a team for me for scrapbooking! We have weekly challenges and it helps me get more current things done and challenges me to get a certain number of pages done each month. To date I have lost 22 pounds and Kevin has lost 28 pounds! I was out losing him for awhile, but then after the first of the year when he got serious too he eclipsed me by mid February! lol Oh well, I am glad we are doing it together so we can be healthy and around for Tye.
