My visiting teaching companion has become a great friend and such a help to us. She took over watching Tye on Monday while I was at work when Mary moved. She called me one day and asked if we had been to Sea World and I told her no not with Tye and I had not been here in FL. So she offered some tickets her husband had gotten for Christmas from his work. They needed to be used by June 1st and they were going to be unable to go before then. So we accepted. We were trying to figure out a day to go when on May 6th Kevin got a call and was laid off his job (they said the funding got cut, who knows if that is right or not, but he is now jobless and currently looking for new work). Anyway, that gave us the perfect opportunity to go that Friday. We knew we could do it without spending much or any money so we took the chance to go then. We told Tye and he was so excited to go see "big whales"!
We got up early and headed off. It took us a little over an hour to drive there. It was the perfect morning, we had lots of clouds but no rain and a breeze and the temperature was just right! The first thing we did was see Shamu (the character not the real whale). We tried to get a picture, but Tye just acted shy and covered his eyes as he always does! lol
We went to several shows practically one right after the other (we only missed one that we had wanted to, but it was the same time as the Shamu show, so we figured that took precedence). We saw the dolphins under the water and Tye put his hand in to pet the dolphins on top, but they never came close enough. He got bored of waiting so we moved on.
We saw Manatee, Sea Otters, Sharks, fish, Seals and Whales. He had so much fun. We decided to have a little meal at the Shark Tank restaraunt. We each had a salad and then had some shrimp bruchetta (there was only three of them for $8! ARGH! lol) It was so cool because the entire front wall was glass with the shark and some fish swimming by. Amazing!
Of course, since Sea World is owned by the Anheiser Busch company, they had the Budweiser Clydesdale Horese (grandpa's favorite). So we got to see them in their stalls.
There were some kiddie rides so Tye and I rode the Carousel (all the pictures are blurry because Kevin took them while we were going and they just didn't turn out) and Kevin and Tye rode the spinning hurricanes (teacups! lol).
Then the climax of the whole time...seeing "Big Whales"! He loved it and silly me took all sorts of pictures of the show, but none of him watching the show! Oh well. We had great fun and we were hot, tired and ready to go by the end!
What a fun day and very exciting for Tye! Thank you Carolyn for giving us the tickets that allowed us to experience this with our little boy! He loved every minute of it and for the few days after kept asking us if we were going to go see "big whales" today and when we said no he would tell us we were going to go "tomorrow'! Too cute!
