My Grandpa

My grandfather is one of the happiest, most loving, hard working, righteous person I know. He is one of my idols. I love the way that at 82 years old he still tries to do it all! He forgets that he isn't 20 anymore! He is definitely the head of our family and has great wisdom as to the way things should be handled. He is constantly being an example and teaching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to be a good follower of Christ and make good decisions in our lives. But he doesn't do it in an overbearing way, in fact, he typically does it in a quiet, loving manner. I don't recall ever hearing my grandfather yell or hardly even raise his voice. People respect him and he doesn't have to force his presence on anyone. If you need anything, he is there to help, whether it be advice or financially, he does what needs to be done to make things happen or make things better for his family. When I was going to school at Ricks College he helped pay for half of my housing. About 5 years later, after Kevin and I got married and on our feet a little bit I tried to pay Grandpa back and do you know he refused?! He tore up my check and sent it back to me! The nerve! lol :-) Thank you for all you do Grandpa!!

I have a couple of really cool memories of my grandpa. He LOVED to garden, and they had one in the middle of their backyard. One year Grandpa grew pumpkins. (I don't remember if he did it every year or just this year.) But anyway, he grew a HUGE old pumpkin. I think he submitted it to the fair that year, but I don’t remember what happened. Maybe someone from the family can fill me in on that and I will update this blog! lol

(Sorry that this picture is not very good. It is a copy of a copy of probably a copy! lol But at least you can see how big that pumpkin was! That is my biological sister Stephanie on the left and me on the right.)

Another memory is that because my parents were divorced and I lived with my mom in Boise, Idaho and my dad lived in Eastern Idaho it was about a 5-6 hour drive. My grandparent’s lived just outside of Boise too and so they would usually pick us up on Friday afternoon and take us to my dad’s house to visit. A good majority of the trip would be spent telling stories and mostly singing songs! My grandfather had lots of good songs he would sing to us. And we had several we would all sing. It was a lot of fun and made the time pass quickly.

Now, I don’t have those road trips and the time I get to see him is few and far between. I am still waiting for them to come visit me in Florida! lol (HINT, HINT!) But I am soooo grateful for the times we do get to spend together when I go home to visit. I love listening to his stories and wish I could get a couple of people to cooperate and get them recorded!

The first picture on this blog is my grandfather and me at Maddox in Brigham City, UT. YUM one of my favorite restaurants!! Thanks for dinner Grandpa!

This picture below is of my Grandfather, my sister Bonnie, and my step-grandmother Teresa.

This final picture is of my Grandfather and Bonnie's daughter, Isabelle. She was just over 3 months old at this time. She likes Grandpa way more than me (every time I tried to hold Isabelle she cried! lol Weird because I never have that effect on kids! They usually curl up and go to sleep on my shoulder! lol) Anyway, I think it is a darling picture!!!

Thank you Grandpa for the man you are and the person you encourage me to be. I love you so much and am so grateful for you. You have helped me in more ways than you will ever know. I look up to you and hope that one day I can be as wonderful as you are!
THANK YOU!! I LOVE YOU!
