Kennywood 061809

In Pittsburgh there is an amusement park that has been there forever. Kevin used to go there as a kid (we will address that in a minute...lol). So of course we definitely wanted to take Tye there.

So here are the grandkids (Tye really didn't want to sit there, so Oma took him and held him) with Cowboy Joe at Kennywood.

So for the blast from the past. I am taking you back to October 1971. This is Kevin and Kimberly sitting with Cowboy Joe. Kimberly says she sooooo did NOT want to sit by Cowboy Joe but was told she had to. So that is why she is looking not so happy in the picture. Kevin is just trying to figure out if the dude is real or not I think! lol

Now here they are today enjoying a duplicate picture, both thinking it is funny to take the same pic again! lol Of course, we couldn't remember who was sitting on which side, so of course we ended up with it wrong! lol

Tye spied the motorcycles and immediately wanted to ride them! lol The girls joined them thinking it would be pretty fun too.

Laramie totally wanted to ride this. Kimberly went on it with her thinking it would be okay, but quickly found out that it was not good for her! lol She spent the rest of the ride with her face covered while Laramie completely enjoyed it!

Tye, Kimberly and the girls all rode the little turtle. (There is also a big turtle, which we all rode except for Oma, but we didn't get any pics of that.) They thought it was a lot of fun.

It seems at Kennywood I didn't get very many good pics of Tye, but a whole lot of Kimberly and the girls! lol So yes, we all went, but the pics didn't turn out of us! hehehe
We rode the train, Tye thought that was the best!! (Of course! lol) He is such a train freak, so don't mind us, as we go through these posts if you see a million of them! We went to several! lol

Oma and Opa on the train.

Kevin riding with Tye in the car. Hold on honey!!! lol Actually it was Oma that needed to hold on. Tye was hunched over the steering wheel like a serious olden day race car driver! Too bad the pics (once again) didn't turn out so great! lol It was hilarious and the look on Oma's face was priceless! lol

Laramie taking the corner like a pro!

Kimberly enjoying her ride in the backseat of Angelie's car.

There was this kiddie rollar coaster they all went on. Well it only went around one time and then they were supposed to get off. Well no one was in line, so the guy asked if they wanted to go again. Everyone yelled YES, except for Tye who yelled NOOOOOO! lol Too bad, majority wins out and they take off again.

Tye just so excited to take Laramie everywhere to see everything!

They had a skateboard and biking show and Tye was mezmorized! He thought that was so cool.
At the fishing pond, the kids fish for the bigger fish. Then they get to trade their fish in for a prize! lol Tye chose a neon green stuffed snake. lol
So for the things I didn't get pictures of, Opa, Laramie, Kevin and I rode the Thunderbolt roller coaster. It reminded me that I really cannot ride rollar coasters that aren't the newer ones with the headrests as my neck always hurts after. Oh well, it was still fun!
Then Kevin and I rode the Ghostwood Estates ride. It was like a cross between Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear (for those that have been to Disney).
And the funniest one (well in a weird sort of way) was Noah's Ark. This was another old family favorite and has a story to go with it then too. Opa took Kevin on this walk-through ride. Well it used to have a whale that you walked through the mouth of to get onto the ride. According to the story, there was some evil laugh that you heard when you went into the whale's mouth. I guess Kevin didn't say a word, but immediately made an about face and walked right back out. Kevin's dad looked down and noticed all of a sudden here is Kevin walking the opposite direction!! ROFL!
So with that, Opa wanted to take Tye through for his first time. Well Tye was a little worried and wanted to be carried. So Opa carried him, well Tye grasp onto his shirt so tight that he had bumps on his shirt when Tye let go! lol Then Tye was climbing his feet up Opa's legs to get closer to Opa and so Opa had footprints on the front of his pants! lol It was funny! Laramie freaked out when the gorilla came forward at her. So we had to help her get through the rest of it. Opa cut his hand on one of the walls as the boat was rocking and he ran into it, so he was bleeding everywhere. And if you ask Tye he will tell you about the floor that was "all wiiiiggggllly" (as he shakes his bootie for you to see how the floor moved). lol It just was a comedy of errors. And although the kids weren't thrilled with it, the adults thought all the things that went on with it were funny. :-)
We had a great day and really enjoyed playing. I wish we could have stayed longer, but Oma and Opa were getting tired so we headed off for the day.
That evening we went to dinner at a local place called Rocky's. Kevin and Opa had the grouper sandwich. Opa got the small, Kevin got the medium, but really wanted to get the large. However, he was glad when it came that he didn't because he could barely finish the medium (and if you know Kevin at all you know that is almost impossible! lol) Tye was messing around at dinner and spilled his chocolate milk all over the table, floor and partly on himself. I cleaned it up the best I could and then they brought out the mop to finish the job. I told him next time he wasn't going to be allowed to sit by Opa cause he gets too riled up! lol
Once again we were very tired and were in bed and probably asleep at least by 10:30!
