Off to North Carolina 6/22/09

So after we spent a few days in Pittsburgh we all made our way down to North Carolina. We left early Monday morning. Kevin's dad had one route and we had another route. I had gotten ours off mapquest and he had gotten theirs off the paper maps. Love him to death, but he had decided another route would be much better because it was shorter in mileage. So they left about 5-10 minutes before us, right around 7am.

Along the way we saw two deer standing off to the side of the freeway. I did not get a pic of them since I didn't have my camera sitting in my lap the whole time! lol But I did get some shots of some of the greenery.

Here is our driver man! lol

Tye would not allow me to take a picture of him. He kept putting the dvd player in front of him. We learned well on our Utah trip that this is salvation. We don't hear a million questions (including the ever famous "are we there yet?") lol
After we got off the main route we followed a river/stream pretty much the whole way to Boone, NC. Tye spied it and said, "can we look at it?" So I told Kevin at the next pull out to pull over and we would get out and look. We had been driving for quite awhile and it would be good for us to stop and stretch our legs. So at the next spot Kevin pulled over and we got out and walked down by the river. It was very pretty and I LOVE seeing nature like that. Just calms me. Tye is totally in love with waterfalls lately, so we picked a perfect place to stop right by a "water fall". A small one mind you but he thought it was "AWESOME!" lol

We got to the hotel at 2:45 (after getting a little lost, but just took a round about way to get there and had to go on another road than it said, but no worries it didn't take long). My in laws, they got there at 4:45 (2 hours after us). Yeah, love ya, but glad we did not caravan! hehehe I like going and getting there. If there is something cool we will stop, but for the most part we don't stop 10 times for potty breaks, we don't stop for meals (we usually take them with us) or we will get it and eat in the car. We just go! I guess they ended up going on an extremely windy road. So the girls were saying, "Wee, wee, bluh" Yep twice Angelie threw up. Not good. She seemed pretty okay about it when they got there, so that is good. And they made it there safe in any case.

Sounds like you took the better route! I love mapquest & DVD players for kids!
