Roaring 20s 4/24/10

Last year when Mary and Jack were here visiting us, Sarah, from our old ward (church congregation) told us about this cool restaurant that she wanted to take us to. So Saturday we headed off down there. It is called Roaring 20s, Pizza and Pipes. It is right next to the outlet mall in Ellenton, FL.

Hard to tell the front doors, but they have muscial notes and such in the glass on them! Very cool. Here is the gang (except me, who is taking the pictures). L to R is Bill (Mary's brother), Tye, Sarah, Mary and Jack.

Not the best pic, but it is the only one that I have with the pizza in it. I actually had the Hawaiian and this is the Roaring 20s specialty pizza (basically a supreme with everything on it! lol)

The cool thing about this place is the organ! HOLY COW!!! You will see more pictures later, but it is a Wurlitzer and then it is attached to all these different instruments. Like in the picture below, about the pipes is a piano. Some of the time he would be playing he would actually be playing the piano, you would even see the keys and hammers going! Soooo cool!!!

Sarah took Tye over to check out all the pipes. This was on both sides of the organ. There were a ton!!! It was cool to see all them. And you could see the air pressure going through the pads at the bottom of the pipes. It was really loud for Tye so he had his fingers in his ears! lol

At one point the horns sounded and Tye was surprised! lol

Here is the organist. He took requests all night long. Sarah put in there for them to play the Chatanooga Choo-Choo. He had the train whistle, brakes, and everything going!! Amazing! Look at all those keys and sideboards!
Here is a picture of it from the side with some of the pipes hanging from the ceiling...when these keys/pipes were being played a little light we could come on so you knew which pipe was sounding! Way cool!!
Out front was a little lake and a fountain with a boardwalk along it. Tye loved running along it.
If you like music at all, this is a neat little place to go! It was just amazing to see this massive organ up close and all the pipes and everything being controlled from the organ keyboard. The organist was great! The pizza was really good too, oh and the cookie sundae was delish!!! (I forgot to get a picture of it YUMMY!) You must try it out some time!
